Mirror mirror on the wall
Someone's ego is about to fall
And don't you dare get up and walk
Until it's your damned turn to talk
You lift your chin like you've been sainted
When in your heart your soul's been tainted
Greed itself has set it's roots
While you pretend that peace is moot
You march your troops
You claim defense
When really it's money
Your people aren't dense
No not stupid
They're starving and weak
For businessmen, it's power they seek
We spend trillions of dollars we don't possess
To let our military puff out it's chest
By invading countries who never asked
To have their economy taken to task
By bigots who can't even manage on their own
Hypocrites who can't handle reaping what they sow
Our citizens hungry, every day many die of thirst
When those who're sworn to protect them
Are their worst...
Enemy, that is. And it isn't a lie
Our negligence is legendary, we can't deny.
To the people living in our country's borders
The war will never end
While our congress and fat cats condescend
They say "get a job" when they won't pay a wage
Yet they expect us to fatten their wallets for signing a page
Which they haven't even read, mind you. Laws and bills meant to oppress
And they say they work for the people. That they're in our best interests.
They demand a degree for a job to get by
Yet to get an education, it's just a license to die
To spend fifty years paying back loans for school
Plus the funds it takes to raise a family and then a congressman gets a brand new pool
It's been turned into a meme, but the heart of it's true
"I don't want to live on this planet anymore..."
How about you?
Our supposed freedom has become more of a lip service
While the only respite we have is the internet and fanservice.
We amend constitutions, we still fight for rights,
And yet still I don't feel safe walking home at night
Because despite being able to legally vote
If a man feels like I spurned him, he can still slit my throat
And he'll get away scot free, because he can make people pity
A poor loser who can't accept that his personality is shitty
But no one cares until I snap
And go postal from my grief
Then I'll get the death penalty, while my rapist serves the time equivalent to a petty thief
We fight over religion
Over which God is the first,
But no one asks the question that threatens to burst
Does it matter which messenger takes precedence?
Isn't the real question: did you freakin get the message?
Science teaches that for actions, there comes an equal
Yet opposite...which means treat others as you'd want.
Mirror mirror on the wall
I fear our civilization is going to fall
And when it crumbles at our toes, and we are at an all time low
I won't have to tell you I told you so
